Schengen visa

A Schengen visa is a visa that is obtained in order to roam in the Schengen region where free movement is allowed. This area consists of European Union Members and countries that are part of EFTA as well, concerning the validity and certain limitations on period.

 

The Uniform Schengen visa or the USV is the kind of visa that allows a person to stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days at a stretch over a period of 180days. This visa holder is permitted to travel in all of the 26countries under this region. It applies to ā€˜Aā€™ and ā€˜Cā€™ category visas.

Type A visa is also known as the airport transit Visa and it allows one to wait for the next flight or have a transit through. The person who has this Visa cannot enter the Schengen area.

 

Type C visa which is also the most popular one is the short-stay visa. It is appointed by embassies or visa agencies to always the client to stay or travel in the Schengen area up to 90 days. This visa consists of three types of visas based on entry such as single entry, double entry, and multiple entries. As the names suggest single entry allows one time visit in the Schengen area till your validity expires. Double-entry allows twice re-entering of the area till the defined time period and multiple entries permit you to enter as many times as you would want to within a 90 day period for a validity of 180 days.

 

Limited territorial validity visas are the type of visas where you have been allowed to visit only certain states. This can be issued on instances such as if one has an emergency but does not valid documents, the person might be permitted to visit a particular state.

 

The National visa or the type D category visa is more of a longer stay visa. Here the foreigner is given this visa if he or she plans to stay for studying or planning to reside permanently in one of the countries. There are several specifications as to who will get this visa.

 

It is important to note that when you have a short stay visa, you might be given an extension for a number of reasons such as late entry, Humanitarian reasons, force majeure that is due to an act of God the person has no power over, and other important reasons.

 

Schengen visas can also be categorized based on the type of purpose for the visit- such as travel, business, study, medical reasons, filming, and so on.
