And surprisingly, people spend thousands and lacs on their Hair loss treatments but not on their Childs education or basic home commodities or on their own serious internal health issues!!!

First lets try to understand what Hair loss is all about:

Most people normally shed 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually doesn’t cause noticeable thinning of scalp hair because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when this cycle of hair growth and shedding is disrupted or when the hair follicle is destroyed and replaced with scar tissue.

The exact cause of hair loss may not be fully understood, but it’s usually related to one or more of the following factors:

  • Family history (heredity): in these cases just forget that you will ever get hair on your scalp.
  • Hormonal changes: these hormones need to be fixed medically, hair treatments just won’t work! Like in Pregnancy or post delivery, its normal to lose hair.
  • Medical conditions: The underlying cause (e.g: alopecia aerata) needs to be treated an hair specialist is useless here! Because the treatment will then be directed towards reversing the ‘Auto-immunity’
  • Medications: and their side-effects like in chemotherapy, steroids or regular use of antibiotics.
  • STRESS: the most important cause of ‘Self Limiting’ Hair loss. Do check your stress-score and see if you really need medical help or not? • A trigger event. Many people experience a general thinning of hair several months after a physical or emotional shock. This type of hair loss is temporary. HOW THE HAIR LOSS SCAM WORKS:

Hair loss is a big issue for a lot of men and scammers take advantage of it. Beware of the Hair Restoration aka Hair Loss Treatment scam. The scam is similar to many of the other ‘miracle products’ scams out there. How does the it work?

This scam comes in several variations. Every time you go on the Internet you come across ads, typically published by automatic software under legitimate news articles. Whether you read an article online published on your local newspaper’s website or a national one, almost every time you notice a “Sponsored Articles From Around The Web” section, right under the article.

Most likely, these are ads about “natural products” that are used for a long time, like forgotten wonder products. By consuming these products you can grow your hair back in a very short time.

BEWARE OF THE “DON’T PAY FOR HAIR TRANSPLANT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS” TYPE OF ADS

In this specific case, the shady advertisements are mostly featuring phrases such as: ‘Get Your Hair Back Fast’, ‘Don’t Pay For Hair Transplant Until You See This’, or ‘Magic Hair Growth Revealed’ – which promise you to fix your problem with the help of an ancient or advanced homeopathy special product.

Clicking on the link will redirect you to a (false) news website. The articles seem to be from reputable sources like The Times of India, Bombay Times, USA Today, People, Vanity Fair, Yahoo, Women’s Day, Time, BBC, Sun, and your local papers, but the writers must have left their journalistic ethics at the door – the articles are filled with celebrity testimonials and even end off with a call to action: “Offer for our readers only – Only pay for the shipping!” or “Get first consultation free”

To trap you:They will always say: Over ‘x’ number  cured, or happy or satisfied and CALL NOW or TRY NOW

DON’T FALL FOR THE MENTION OF YOUR CITY

The fake website shows up according to the region you live in, as they are geo-tagged by scammers according to your computers’ ID address. It doesn’t matter if you live in Mumbai, London, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Berlin or Paris, you’ll always see celebrity photos shamelessly used by scammers.

At the bottom of the page you can also see Facebook comments from people who had used the product and of course they were satisfied with the hair loss treatment. If you click on any of the fake Facebook profiles, you’ll be just refreshing the fake article page and be taken to the top part of it.

But let’s say you decide to try out the hair restoration magic product. Even if the product doesn’t work, you’ll only lose Rs. 1000 for the shipping – or so you think. Well, that amount changes when you receive your next credit card statement showing a membership charge of Rs. 10,000!!

You call the company and try to dispute it, but they say it’s impossible to cancel due to the wording in the fine print. They may also advise you to buy additional products.

When you finally realize you’re being taken advantage of and try to report them and denounce the company online, you’ll already be too late. The company will simply change their name and start again, scamming whoever else wants to make a quick dollar.

HOW TO AVOID THE HAIR LOSS TREATMENT/HAIR RESTORATION SCAM:

Don’t get us wrong, there are legitimate companies that provide great service in transplanting hairs and grafts. We are talking about the shady practices. Just do your research first. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is! Avoid these types of offers.

If you feel tempted, try googling the site online and look for an independent review. Feel free to report the names of the scammers below, under the Comments section.

BELOW ARE SOME RIDICULOUS AND FUNNY SOLUTIONS TO ‘HAIR LOSS” THAT DONT WORK!

In over 15 years of counselling men dealing with hair loss, I’ve pretty much heard it all. Weird, wacky, and even frankly worrisome: there are treatments out there that make you want to shake your head with laughter, incredulous that anyone would resort to such desperate – and unscientific – measures.

But however colourful the treatments I’m about to tell you about, they carry a serious message: that men care deeply about their hair. The fact is that 55 per cent of men experience male pattern baldness by the age of 35, and that partly explains why more than $2 billion is spent annually by these vulnerable blokes on often futile cures …

1. COW’S URINE

Agra in northern India is a Mecca for male pattern baldness sufferers. At the renowned cow shelter of Mr DD Singhal, Founder of the Agra Gaushala Foundation, Hindu worshippers insist that drinking the urine of virgin cows – dutifully harvested into a humble glass directly from the cow and then chugged by the punter – is the only effective solution for baldness.

Oh and there’s more. The urine must come from a cow that has never birthed a calf, and for optimal benefits, must be consumed before sunrise. Naturally.

Even Hippocrates, who decreed that medical practitioners must first “do no harm”, advised his faithful followers to drink chicken urine to remediate their receding hairlines.

Scientificity factor: 0/10! No scientific evidence exists to support the consumption of urine to promote hair regrowth. Let’s move on.

2. ONION JUICE

Onions are an oft-talked about natural hair loss treatment, because they’re rich in sulphur, which happens to be one of the main components of hair. They also boast good antibacterial properties, said to help because the scalp is cleansed of bacteria that may be hindering hair growth.

However, their application is known to be cumbersome and somewhat stinky, so you’ll need diligence if you’re going to stick with this one.

Peel, wash and chop your onions then process in a blender (or use a grater). Strain the pulp and extract as much juice as possible, then massage the juice into your scalp. Leave it on for about half an hour then wash hair as normal.

Scientificity factor: 1/10. According to a 2002 study, onion juice is an effective therapy for alopecia areata only which is an auto-immune disease, which causes the body’s immune system to attack hair follicles and eject them from the scalp. For there rest of the underlying conditions for Hair loss… UTTER NONSENSE!

3. BULL SPERM

That’s right: bull semen hair loss treatments are actually a thing. The extremely high protein content of calf gravy is meant to support the production of keratin, the protein that makes up hair.

Fortunately, it’s reported to be odorless and colourless. Still, it’s hard to look past its provenance …

Scientificity factor: 2/10. If a protein treatment is to be beneficial, the molecules have to be hydrolysed (broken down). Sadly, bull sperm molecules are too large to make any meaningful impact to hair growth.

4. TABASCO

If the thought of a Friday night vindaloo makes your eyes water, then the idea of applying Tabasco to your scalp may well cause steam to gush out your ears.

The basis of this wacky treatment is a study that showed capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot peppers, stimulates hair growth. Mind you, the capsaicin was injected into mice and ingested orally by humans, rather than applied straight to the scalp. So, before you grab the Tabasco from the kitchen cupboard and smear it liberally on your scalp, consider the dangers of it getting in your eyes, the potential burns to your skin and the enduring odour of chilli con carne that’s likely to remain on your person for days.

Scientificity factor: 2/10. Reports that rubbing hot sauce on your head will grow back your head of hair are anecdotal and unreasonably optimistic. While there is proof that capsaicin as a substance works, an effective and readily available capsaicin-based treatment does not currently exist.

5. YEAST INFECTION CREAM

This one harks back to the onion juice principle: cleansing the scalp of growth inhibitors, but with an additional wild card. The active ingredient in yeast infection creams is miconazole nitrate, an antifungal agent. Its chemical structure is not unlike another antifungal, ketoconazole, which appears to block dihydrotestosterone, the hormone responsible for male pattern baldness.

Scientificity factor: 3/10. There are plenty of beauty bloggers who insist they’ve grown back up to three inches of hair in a month! Unfortunately, miconazole hasn’t been clinically tested as a hair loss treatment, so it’s hard to put their words to the scientific test.

As with most ‘home’ remedies in the hair loss treatment world, it’s up to you; if you want to sneak into your wife’s or girlfriend’s medicine cabinet so you can slather her vaginal cream on your head, that’s entirely your business!

SO WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

IF YOU FOLLOW THESE 4 SIMPLE STEPS, YOU’LL END UP SOLVING YOUR HAIR LOSS PROBLEM EFFECTIVELY.

  1. CONSULT A CLASSICAL HOMEOPATH (AGAINST THE ONE WHO WILL PRESCRIBE REPEATED DOSES OF WISBADEN, THUJA AND SULPHUR, THIS FORMULA IS USELESSLY USED BY ‘CHAINS’ OF HOMEOPATHY CLINICS)

  2. ASK HIM TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF YOUR HAIR LOSS

  3. TAKE THE REMEDY

  4. FOLLOW THE ‘DO’S AND DONT’S OF TREATMENT’.
